I belive it was right after Power Pro Wrestling went out of business. Anyways, TV5 put on a few episodes of a wrestling show from I believe Harrah's Casino. I remember one having Bart Sawyer against Kevin White. My question, is who was behind this attempt to bring wrestling back to TV5, and why did it not fly?

I think one reason it didn't fly was because the production was so bad. You couldn't see or hear it worth a flip.

I think one reason it didn't fly was because the production was so bad. You couldn't see or hear it worth a flip. Now that I think of it I think the second week I watched it, there was no sound at all. And then, the horrible TV5 Championship Wrestling from the Dyersburg Community Center. Gosh, that was horrible. If one moment was the pits for Memphis Wrestling production, it was that one. Go from a pretty good quality for indies PPW and MCW to that stuff. Big drop down the totem pole.

After PPW folded Lawler, actually ran shows at Harrah Casino, and got a tv deal with wmc-tv5 called Championship Wrestling they showed about a months worth of footage from the casinos then Lawler, lost his deal with Harrah and started running at the Dyersburg Entertainment Center in Dyersburg, TN ( where Rob Harlem, the former Sir Mo, from Men on a Mission fame was running his MACW-Mid America Championship Wrestling on Saturdays nights and Lawler, started doing tv tapings ever other Wednesday night.)

I went to the first taping at Harrah's in Tunica and not only was the production and sound horrible on TV, it was equally as bad in person. There were quite a few people there and they gave it a shot, unfortunately, it just sucked too bad to survive. I think Nate the Rat was the cause of its demise...

Actually Spellbinder, ( Del Rios, now working as Shock ) was calling the shots at the later part of Lawler's promotion.
