I think this is a decent topic. Some guys that I remember were Ken Lucas, Tony Charles(IIRC he would always laugh, while wrestling ;D) and of cource Rick Gibson........ I saw Roy Rogers(later revealed to Tommy Rich's cousin Johnny Rich), wrestle Kamala one night in Louisville Gardens. He would make faces, and goof on Kamala, and run from him, until Kamala finally cought up with him. At that point he made mince meat of Rogers, busting him open, and licking the blood from his fingers, and rubbing it on his belly. Kamala was a scary sight especially in person............. Saw Power Team USA,aka The Blade Runners in person at the Gardens(Sting,Ultimate Warrior), and at the time, they were very impressive..............Tom Branch(Tom Renesto Jr) the heel ref turned wrestler got a nice face reaction for some reason that night....................Saw Bruiser Brody in person in the Gardens, and I am glad that I did, truly a hardcore, oldschool monster...............Anyone here remember Big Red Reese? I don't remember ever seeing him wrestle on TV, but every now and and then, he would come to town, can someone tell me more about this guy? Was he a serious wrestler, or comic relief

I remember ken lucas,he was the "enforcer"u might say on the old im assuming gulas wrestling? the gulas wrestling,im assuming it was because i see all kinds of stuff about gulas on here, and i remeber there was a gulas,i think george who was the "man"on that wrestling show.i just remember lanny poffo, randy savage, the miser(savages dad)supposedly, gulas, and ken lucas.tojo "pearl harbored"his teammate during a interview, think it was gulas.anyway yeah ,i remember lucas when he came to uswa/cwa/awa.whatever u want to call memphis wrestling.as a youngster i got his autograph from the gardens.thought it was cool.i always thought lucas was tough, just rememberin him from gulas days.i do remember big red,i didnt know he had a reese in it.he came out in balloon pants u might say.big funny black man, seemed to have kinda red hair an freckles.i loved him back then,i suppose lookin back he was a gimmick, just a comedy routine.

here is the million dollar question most every wrestling fan in the world wonders when they see him,im sure people close to wrestling have the answer but here it is...what the heck happened to handsome jimmy valiant?he was 1 of my favorite wrestlers ever,he was in a back alley street brawl my 1st time at gardens ever,it was jimmy valiant, bill dundee,an some1 else cannot remeber vs. joe leduc jon louie,an sonny king.it was probably 1978 ,wooo at the gawdens.anyway he was a big guy,he wasnt in great shape, but was pretty big i saw him at a reuinon at the gardens probbaly 7-9 years ago,an he was peddlin photo's in the crowd an looked like he was on deaths doorstep.i figured he had cancer for sure, but all these years later,i still see him on his website,or other websites, still a scrawny old man.maybe he just ate well when he got old,but u have to admit,he looks sick.hate too see my old favs, struggle at an old age.any1 know how old valiant is while im at it? thanks for all who struggle through my lame typing.1 of my old memories of jimmy was the day hart told every1 lawler broke his leg,he brought out the dream machine, rick rude, mantel, had his stable, they procedded to whoop up on dundee in the ring, lancer as always"can we get somebody back there, come on guys" an jimmy walks out talks to lancer as he is still in the stable,he jumps into the ring as the family holds dundee, jimmy takes off his boot revs back an turn on the stable, clearin house,an starts chanting, star wars is back baby, star wars is back, was 1 of the best days on uswa wrestling ever.

It was Steve Kyle the pulled the dog behind him. This post has sure brought on some old memories. Anyone remember Cowboy Frankie Lane. I remember when Lawler piledrove him on the concrete 3 times. Lance Russell was going nuts. This started a short feud between the two.

When you talk about old wrestlers, you're singing my song now!!! I remember Big Red with his finishing move "The Holy Ghost Splash"...I also remember Cowboy Frankie Lane, Nelson Royal, Steve Kyle(also known as Steve Lawler), Gypsy Joe, Bad Bad Leroy Brown, Porkchop Cash, Bearcat Brown, Danny Hart with his head claw, Terry Boulder and his young bro. Eddie Boulder(later known as Hulk Hogan and Brutus Beefcake), the Blonde Bombers(Larry Latham and Wayne Farris)...I can go on and on. Memphis wrestling was the greatest of all wrestling shows...but my man was that Dream Machine....boy could he talk trash!!!

Handsome Jimmy Valiant contracted hepatitis, which accounts for some of the way he looks today. He also went on some kind of health food diet, which also contributes to his size today. Jimmy was a good sized man years ago. He probably did weigh around 250, but today probably doesn't weigh 200.
