He was without a doubt one of the better performers in Memphis history. Had he lived longer, I have no doubt that Jerry Lawler would have passed the torch to "Hot Stuff". I miss him alot, and think that he would probably have a spot in todays WWE.
I have a couple of Favorite Gilbert Memories. 1. During the Tex-Tenn angle, Gilbert was a team player and fighting alongside his bitter rival Jerry Lawler. He lost no intencity as a face, you couldn't say that about alot of guys in the biz. 2. When Gilbert cut up those jackets, and his demeanor while doing so, truly deranged. I thought that moment with the destroying of the jackets, put the Lawler vs Gilbert angle in a nice little bow.
Lets here some of your memories of the guy who was in Jerry Lawlers shadow, though I don't think he deserved to be.
Just on a side note How great would the Dundee-Landel angle, have been with Gilbert as a co-hort of Dundee and Landel?

Can't speak too much on Gilbert's Memphis angles as i remeber mostly from his time in WCW,GWF,ECW and his short WWF stint.

IMO Eddie was one of the most underated heels of all time. He could garner a great amount of heat w/ his promos & working in the ring. A pretty damn good storyteller. My favorite Gilbert moment was his feud w/ Lawler when he ran him down in the lot of the studio. How realistic was that before the era of 'hardcore'?? Well booked and very convincing. My second best memory was when he turned on Rich as they attempted to immulate the Fabs as the 'New Fabs'. Great booking by Jarrett to save that disaster Mark

I think my favorite Gilbert memories are of his last feud with Jerry Lawler in about 93-94 in the USWA. I think that feud just summed up how good the pair went together into a feud.
Gilbert brought the best out of Lawler, and Lawler the like.
I think despite their on again off again relationship when the lights went on and the bell rang, the pair were like peanut butter and jelly.
I also liked Eddie's Global run and thought it was one of the reasons the show did good in their first few months.
I think Eddie was certainly and underated talent, but also a booker.
I sure do miss him.
We're thinking of ya, Eddie, wherever ya are.

I think we all miss Eddie Gilbert, and have to wonder what the USWA could have been like had he not had such an untimely demise.

My favorite Eddie Gilbert memory was when he ran over Jerry Lawler outside the studio... You talk about drama! I think Memphis Wrestling was the first to show events outside the ring/studio. I may be wrong. Eddie Gilbert had it all: the ability to be hated, a good interview and he could throw fire as well; he also was a gifted writer, too. I wished he could have lived longer.
