Any Rich fans out there? I was always a huge Rich mark. I can still shut my eyes and see him coming out from under the ring and helping Idol destroy Lawler. What a surprise!
Also, I really wished something else was done with the Gilbert/Rich team other than package them as another version of The Fabulous Ones. Should have known that was going to be doomed.

The funny thing is, you could have stuck any old name on Rich/Gilbert, and they would have been over huge. Amazing what just a name can do.

I really liked Rich teamed with Eddie's brother, Doug as they took on PG-13 in the USWA.
I remember when they tried to blind Wolfie by dumping ink into his eye, and the angle seeming so real.
The only thing that I didn't like about that feud was when Jamie and Wolfie came back after the loser leaves town match under hoods as The Cyberpunks. That name just rubbed me the wrong way.
Otherwise I think it was one of the best tag feuds in Memphis history, and that says something when you think of what great teams have had battles in Memphis over the years.

I too have always been a fan of Rich up until a few years ago (I don't want to rehash that here ). I love his rough voice. He was a great face in Memphis and Atlanta. I loved his feud w/ Sawyer. He also worked great w/ Lawler. He was very good either as a face or heel. And the FBI gimmick in ECW was one of the funniest gimmicks I've ever seen. Mark

I remember rich his 1st day on wrestling, when he was horse whipped,i was very young, maybe 5-8 years old.for some reason i had a lasting memory of him,and always thought he was awesome,i remember readin about him in magazines after he went to atlanta an seeing how he was such a star, which helped feed my admiration for rich. Then i remeber him coming to the louisville gardens for a special appearance,an i couldnt wait, and truthfully,i was disappointed, couldnt believe how out of shape he was to as popular as he was.1 thing is for sure.they guy had staying power.i even went as far as have his photo put on a mug at walgreens pharmacy.i also still have a couple wrestling photo's i bought at the arena back then of him.

i have had the pleasure of personally meeting mr. rich, and he is an extremely personable individual. it was after a house show at the national gaurd armory in blytheville, ark. several of the wrestlers showed up at big daddy's bar and grille at the holiday inn, including tommy rich and dutch mantell. i had the pleasure of sitting with mr.rich and having a beer and talking about some of my favorite matches that he has been in. my favorite tommy rich match was the infamous scaffold match. he said that he was scared to death up on the scaffold. "wildfire" is one of the greatest heels in memphis wrestling history, but is actually extremely friendly.
