Jerry Lawler was accused and acquitted of statutory rape of a 15-year old girl in Louisville, KY in the early 90's. This was front page news in my neck of the woods, as it probably was in most of y'all's. It was on the front page of the Jackson, TN newspaper, and was also in The Commercial Appeal (Memphis paper).
My question is really to Paul N.
I am wondering what was the locker room's morale like after these accusations, and to this day, despite being acquitted, do some of the boys from that era still down Lawler behind his back on this issue?
Brain Lawler said in a shoot interview that the girl had followed Lawler to his hotel room, and he also said that when time came for it to go to court, the girl's story fell apart because it was just a ploy of hers to make her bf jealous.
Again, just wondering on the morale of the locker room, etc.

As I worded, the trial spoke for itself, as Lawler was acquited of all charges as the girl's story was a farce. I was just wondering if the locker room was afraid that if he lost that the USWA might indeed be done for.

I have no problem with your post, I live in the town where this occurred, it was very embarrassing to L'ville wrestling fans. It even made the TV news here as well once or twice. This girl could have damaged Lawlers career, and she should be ashamed of herself.

I remember Doug Gilbert coming out on either the old USWA or PPW and throwing it up in Lawler's face about this. I wondered at the time if that was part of the plan or if it was truly off-the-cuff from Gilbert.
