I figure this would be a good place to talk about the Florida wrestling scene.I started watching religously around 1981 when i got my own tv a beater b/w hand me down from the next door neighbour. The 1st angle i got into was when the Assassin Jody Hamilton returned along with Assassin 3 Tom Renesto never understood why they went as 1 & 3 there was a # 2 later i believe that one being Ken Timbs i'm sure others played 2 as well.Anyway the angle involved of course Dusty Rhodes a mysteriuos masked wrestler from Mexico showed up on CWF tv he was there to present Dusty an award and a autographed baseball from a mexican ball player.Rhodes came out accepted the autographed ball was staring at the wrestler with a somewhat puzzled look on his face as Gordon strung the interview along as only he could the masked man presnted Dusty the plaque up side his head.Rhodes was taken back to the dressing room and the mask was removed to reveal another mask one i know we all recognize Hamilton cut his return promo and the fued was on.
more later.

Florida for me was the number 2 promotion back in the day. I loved their angles and storylines. My favorite of all time being the Sullivan Satanic gimmick which was just magnificently booked from the beginning when Kevin returned to Fl. as a face to the very end. Very well played out and original to that extent.

Yes the Sullivan angle was a classic and i'll post some memories on that in future posts. But now to continue with the earlier post.a cool storyline took place a few weeks later on CWF tv the Assassins came out to do a typical squash i forget the opponents but thats irrelevant. For the first time 1&3 came out in identical uniforms in the previous weeks Renesto wore a blue and red outfit while Hamilton wore the yellow and black.Anyway the match started with Hamilton working over his opponent then tagging in his partner as the tag is made a man wearing a blue and red mask comes squrming on the floor with his hands tied behind him Assassin 3 comes off the and slugs number 1 and proceeds to give him a beatdown both Assassins retreat and one man is standing in the ring he reaches behind and unlaces the mask to reveal the American Dream the Sportatorium popped big time as a matter of fact i don't believe i ever seen or heard a louder pop then that day Rhodes definitely brought down the house. This fued carried on for over a year some matches were for the NWA title that Dusty won in Atlanta the following year.
Well i think thats all for now man this brings back memories i feel like that 10 year old kid sitting in his bedroom watching that old GE again.peace
