i started thread because i had a question i wanted some info on.here is good as place as any.
does any1 know how much wrestlers made back in the day? seems lawler is the only 1 who saved any money.i know indy wrestlers who make $5-$15 a noight wrestling.i remeber about 5 years ago, austin idol being paid 300 to fly in an wreslte in the ovw,(but he didnt show).im sure the weaker wrestlers may have made 20-30 a night to wrestle in the gardens or mid south colliseum, seems every arena was sold out in the 1970's.but people like valiant who peddles pictures in the audience,an dundee seem to have either squandered their money or just wasnt paid very well, any have a clue? and thanks for info

Well, this isn't the Memphis territory, but according to Ole Anderson's book "Inside Out", he was pulling in 100,000 a year in the 70's and about 200,000 for both booking and wrestling in the early 80's.
I'd say Lawler pulled in at least high five figures in this era, as the Coliseum, Gardens, and all the big spot towns always did good business.
I'd say he at least made 90,000 per year, but I'd say even more than that.
Seeing that he had a percentage of the company too at times, I wouldn't be surprised to see that Lawler took in maybe as high as 200-300 thousand a year back then.
I think Lawler was the only one who saved a lot of the big money he made in Memphis. Jerry claims to never have drank or smoked in his life or do drugs, and it shows.
I'm not really sure what Bill Dundee did with his money, maybe he lost it all in businesses, maybe his first wife took it when they divorced, maybe he's spent it on Jamie, bailing him out of trouble.
Who knows, but one thing is for sure in my mind, Jerry Lawler doesn't have to work hard today, because he did that in his 20's-30's.
Meanwhile, Dundee will peddle his picture, and try to sucker folks into 5 bucks a pop to have a picture taken with the Burned Out "Superstar".
Oh well, at least Bill has his titty bar.

i AINT jobbin to those moondogs no matter what!I wouldnt do it in '92 and STILL wont! RIP Larry Booker, I miss ya!! Well, we can't have our referees getting beat up each and every week, and we can't get any to step in the ring with The Moondogs, so we're gonna have to get someone we don't care about if they get hurt or not. Paul N., how's dear ole dad doing? ;D
